Why did I receive a notice from the fire department for my fire alarm system?
Owners of buildings with more than 2 floors and more than 8 units must upgrade their alarm and fire detection system.
This regulation issued by the building authority has been in effect since March 18, 2016. This notice from the fire department of your municipality requires compliance, or you will be fined or threatened with the temporary closure of your facility.
That is to say, the upgrade of the fire alarm system consists in adapting the existing system so that it complies with the requirements and the municipal regulations in force. For fire alarms, does compliance require a study?
Currently, the emphasis of the upgrade in an apartment building is the addition of a buzzer in each apartment. In some cases, following the addition of these new alarms, the control panel modification may be required to increase the functional capability.
