The Advantages and Operation of Foaming Agent Extinguishing System

Triangle fire safety symbol with blue, red, and green sections labeled nonflammable, heat, and combustible.

As an integrator and installer of ANSUL foam extinguishing systems, we propose the effective fire protection system by cooling effect (high expansion) and/or by smothering effect (low expansion).

The design and content of foam fire extinguishers is identical to that of water extinguishers with additives. The solution is mixed with air at the level of the diffuser, it consists of a simple tube foam (a long tube with an opening at its origin permitting air entry by the Venturi effect) forming foam to low abundance (dense foam). The large range of the jet makes it possible to stay away from the burning liquid to avoid projecting and spreading it.

It is the only agent able to extinguish cleanly, effectively and without risk of re-ignition on class B liquid fires. The foam, floating, works by isolating the air of these. This allows:

  • To prevent the air from feeding the fire;
  • To retain the liquid vapours which can ignite or cause a re-ignition: one can preventively cover with foam a surface to avoid any risk of ignition.
  • To a lesser extent, the foam acts by cooling thanks to the water it contains. This is especially effective on Class A fires.

This concept meets NFPA 11 standards.
